New on the Licensing Front

“Snowman & Bears Skating”
copyright Teresa Kogut
I thought I would share a new painting with you from my world of licensing. This was painted (along with two more coordinating pieces) for gift bags & gift boxes. It is a really cute and playful series. I have been swamped with deadlines…..so it will be a bit before more acrylic originals are available for sale….I need to focus on meeting my licensing obligations. I am working on several more series for gift bags & boxes along with two fabric lines (halloween & Christmas). I have a couple of vacations peppered in amongst my deadlines so summer is very challenging.
I am expecting my calendars to arrive any day now. I will post an announcement when they arrive and put them for sale on this site. I am overwhelmed with how many collectors I have for the Country Bears calendar. I am grateful for each and every one of you!

One of our favorite fun-filled weekends that we look forward to is our annual parish campout. Twenty-one families camped all weekend and enjoyed games, swimming, bike riding, pot luck, pancake breakfast and campfires at night. We also had the pleasure of celebrating Mass outdoors Saturday evening….thanks Fr. George! Many thanks to Pam and Mark Corcoran for putting this great weekend together! What a fun way to get to know your fellow parishioners.

This tiny lil’ acrylic was so fun to paint! It is painted on a wooden plaque so the edges are routed making a border around the image. It measures 5″ x7″ with a green and black border. I was going to crackle the paint, but I didn’t want to loose the fresh colors so I just varnished it for protection. Comes signed/dated and ready to hang with a saw tooth hanger on the back.

I have many many whimsical sketches that I have been working on and now I am starting to paint them on wood. Some may have to be painted on canvas, but if I could paint them all on wood I would be thrilled. I love the texture of the wood showing through the paint. This piece was painted on an old cutting board I purchased while antiquing. It measures 7″ x 9″ (not including the handle), has a coat of varnish for protection, signed & dated on the back and includes a saw-tooth hanger on the back for easy hanging or you can tie a fabric bow through the hole on the handle and hang from a peg.

Family Fun in Manistee Michigan!
posted July 15, 2009
Kevin’s brother bought a house a few years ago next to the 40 acres he and his brothers grew up hunting on in Manistee, Michigan. Now, every summer, the Kogut brothers and their families gather together to camp on his property. We have a great time going on nature walks, chillin’ at the beach, canoeing down the Pine River, having cookouts and ending each day with a campfire and/or a fun game of cards. I thought I would share some of the fun with you through photos.

The first time we went to the beach it was sooo cold! I was glad I brought some clothes with me…never did get in the water that day.

…..but as you can see, the boys aren’t afraid of cold water!

My folks came up Saturday afternoon to visit. We went downtown and walked the river walk. It spans 1.5 miles along the shore of the Manistee River connecting Lake Manistee to the great Lake Michigan. It was a beautiful day!

We took a nature hike through the 40 acres where Kevin & his three brothers hunt. We walked along a steep ridge that leads down to a swampy area. The swamp goes on for many acres and leads to the Manistee River. The above photo was taken at the top of that ridge. The boys were running up and down the ridge…falling at times…..making me a bit nervous, but by the grace of God, no one got hurt.

Nature’s beauty

My sister-in-law told me this is a variation of the orange butterfly weed. It was growing everywhere and the bees love it! Look closely and you can see a bee, japanese beetle and a daddy long leg in this picture.

It was growing in the sand at the beach, too….check out the monarch butterfly.
Well, I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at some of my vacation photos. Now that my batteries are rejuvanated, it’s time to get back to work! Blessings…..
Photo Booth…..what fun!

It’s amazing what you can find while cleaning. I re-discovered this fun photo of Kyle & me in a photo booth from 1996-ish…..I don’t remember where it was taken but I am sure glad to have it and hope you enjoy it, too. Love you, Kyle!
What am I Grateful for Today?

When you wake every morning ask yourself….”what am I grateful for today?” Trust me, your list will be long and the more you ponder this question the more “blessings” will be realized. It is a great way to start and end the day.
What am I grateful for today?……..think about it, you’ll be glad you did.
Positive Thinking

I am a positive person. Every day I give thanks and gratitude for the blessings in my life. However, last week something unexpected and horrifying happened and I found myself in a real funk. I couldn’t seem to think of anything positive because I was so heartbroken. Time has a way of healing, but also thinking positive helped to turn my mood around (along with a healthy dose of faith). I am a true believer of “what we think about, we bring about”. When I was focused on the negative of what was happening, the worse I felt. So I made a conscious decision to look at what was happening from a different point of view…………look at the good that could come from it and believe that it will all work out for the better. I have to admit, at times, Mr. Negativity creeps in and takes over my thought process, but if I stop myself and realize I am playing into it, I can turn it around……..my thoughts don’t control me, I control my thoughts.
Wishing you a wonderful week!
Land that I Love

AMERICA
My Country, ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim’s pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring.
My native country, thee, land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rill, thy wood and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills like that above.
Let music swell the breeze, and ring from all the trees sweet freedom’s song;
Let mortal tongues awake, let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.
Our father’s God, to thee, author of liberty, to thee we sing;
Long may our land be bright with freedoms holy light,
protect us by thy might, great God, our King.
