The worse day ever…..

I don’t like to give out too much personal information on my blog so I will not share why this is the worse day ever. But I can tell you that I’ve cried so much that my head is pounding with every heartbeat, my eyes are puffy & red, my jaw & throat are so tight it’s hard to swallow and I feel weak and helpless. Love is a powerful thing…it can fill you up or leave you empty. If you want to help…..prayer is also powerful…..so I ask that you simply pray for me & my family.

My June Flowers

These photos were actually taken a couple of weeks ago….the irises, poppies & peonies are done blooming now….so sad. Now we are  on to clematis, delphinium, hydrangea, roses, & more. I will update in a couple weeks with those blooms.

Oh, btw, we gave in and turned on our air conditioning yesterday…..my computer did crash and today is suppose to reach 94 degrees! A good day for cooking out and swimming at the pond!  :P

Lovin’ Summer!

Love the red in this painting……red hot summer sun! Poor Oscar is roasting……my gosh that tongue goes on forever…love how it moves your eye off the corner of the painting. 8×10 print available on Etsy! (click the Etsy link on above bar)

Oscar may be roastin’ but I am lovin’ sleeping with the windows open on these cool nights! The house and studio stay cool a good part of the day, but then they get a bit hot. We have yet to fire up the air conditioner…..we waited so long for hot summer days that I’m just not ready to give in……of course, if my computer crashes because of the heat, I’ll think differently! Hope you are enjoying your summer thus far…it goes so fast!

 Happy Father’s Day

My Dad, Harold Terry, First Grade

I found this poem that I believe says it all when it comes to my Dad. Happy Father’s Day, Dad, with love and gratitude!

God took the strength of a mountain,The majesty of a tree,The warmth of a summer sun,The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,The comforting arm of night,The wisdom of the ages,The power of the eagle’s flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,The faith of a mustard seed,The patience of eternity,The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,When there was nothing more to add,He knew His masterpiece was complete,And so, He called it…..Dad.

Father’s Day 2009

What a lucky Dad to have three beautiful children that love and respect him!

You know, we all usually pose for pictures, but sometimes the best photos are when we are not “posing”. Here is a good example of capturing one of those moments.

My best friend in high school had a Boston Terrier named Bandit.  He not only had a lot of spunk, but he was a stinker. You know the saying “the dog did it”…..well I think that started with their family, only it really was the dog! Anyway, just wanted to pay tribute to a cute lil’ guy that brought much joy to a wonderful family and the friends that visited them :)

I know these daily dog paintings are very different from the style of art I typically license . My licensing career over the past 12 years has been an amazing journey full of teddy bears, santas, snowmen, bunnies, witches etc. and I will continue that journey as long as there is a demand for it. As I’ve stated before, I love all kinds of art and I am thrilled to be taking the time to try different styles, subject matter and mediums. I think it is good for artists to reach outside their comfort zone and “paint outside the box”…to grow….to evolve.

Dogs are my muse for now…..who knows what’s next…..cats, birds, sheep, flowers? Stay tuned………

I just love the early morning & late evening sun….it casts such beautiful colors….pinks, oranges, yellows, purples. I took a photo of our sweet lil’ Buster late in the day last week…I couldn’t resist the back-lit profile of his precious face. It was fun to paint too! Keep these things in mind when photographing your objects of affection…be it pets, kids, flowers, etc……morning & evening sun as well as back-lighting help make an ordinary shot extraordinary!

Yesterday I sent these two punchneedle embroidery works of art off to Norden Crafts (my distributor) for the Columbus TNNA (The National Needlearts Association) show. This is a wholesale show for anyone selling needle craft patterns & products. Stores from around the world come to the TNNA shows to place orders that are shipped after the show.  My friend, Jann, and I usually go to this show but we aren’t able to this year. We have had so much fun together at this show (once we got the truck unloaded)….the most fun is checking out all the other booths and seeing all the beautiful needle arts. Jann and I also had fun decorating our booth…..the first year we did the show, people were asking us if we were selling antiques because 80% of our booth was props and decorations with 20% product sprinkled in between all the antiques. See the photos below from last year’s show and you will see what I mean. Hopefully next year we can get back to the show to create more good memories with our customers!

“Buster as a Pup”

copyright Teresa Kogut

I found a photo of Buster when he was just a lil’ pup. He is just too cute in the photo not to make a painting of it….however, the picture could have been better. The photo was taken with a flash which washes out some skin folds and detailed textures that you would get with a sunlit photo.  Also, Buster’s left paw was not in the photo…he was laying on it, but I wanted both paws in the painting to balance it out. It turned out OK, but I reeeaaallllly wish the photo was taken outdoors.
