Daisy & flowers outside my studio

Daffodils outside my studio….thanks to my sister-in-law Debbie.
She planted these for me a couple of years ago as a “thank you”
for all the quilting fabric I have given her.
I think of her every time I see these beautiful flowers.

My obsession with dogs is influencing my art in a wonderful and refreshing way. When I was a little girl I would constantly read & look at books about dogs and I got to where I could look at just about any dog and tell you what breed it was. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a special little furry friend in my life. I am glad to be able to share my love of dogs with you through my art. Hope you enjoy them.
(BTW, Lucky is the name of my best friend’s dachshund and Pal is the name of my brother-in-law’s black lab that passed several years ago)

Kyle Kogut of This Maze performing “Fat Lip”

This Maze performing “Fat Lip”
Kyle:drums, Jeremy:singer/guitar, Nick:guitar, Danny:bass guitar
Monday night This Maze won second place at Kearsley High School’s talent show so they went to the next level performing last night at Oxford High School for the Flint Metro League Talent Show. They did a fantastic job! Wow! There are some really talented young people out there! I was impressed by many of the contestants. I took a video of Kyle and his band performing and would love to share it here on my website, but I am not sure how to do it. If possible, I will post it. So proud! And thank you, Ryan Kogut, for taking the pictures!

What I intend to be tomorrow…..
posted April 16, 2009

Yesterday I took a walk around my house in the early morning hours when it was still chilly looking at all the newness of spring popping up through the soil…..and last year’s dead leaves. Tomorrow is going to be sunny and 70 degrees so I am getting off work at noon and spending the rest of the day cleaning out my flower beds making room for the new growth. I know all you folks in the south have had many sunny beautiful 70-80 degree days already so this is no big news for you…but here in Michigan it is so exhilarating to finally be able to dig in the dirt with the warmth of the sunshine on your back. The only flower that has bloomed in my beds so far is the crocus….the daffodils are getting there and the tulips are about 5″ tall now so it won’t be long before we have a profusion of color!
I’ve got the fever!
SO EXCITING!!

HAPPY EASTER!!

I have a soft spot in my heart for antiques….especially postcards. I have been collecting vintage postcards for several years now…all holiday-themed postcards. It is so fun digging through boxes of old postcards at antiques stores. Now that I have a nice size collection, I am picky on what I buy. I still haven’t landed a Halloween postcard as they are rare and expensive. The Easter postcards are wonderful….I love the “sweetness” of them with lambs, chicks and bunnies, the soft colors and the cherub-faced children. I thought I would share my favorites with you this Easter as my way of saying “Rejoice, He is Risen!”

SHE MAKES ME LAUGH….

These pics were taken at my studio a couple of days ago. With the nose (and appetite) of a lab, Daisy doesn’t miss a thing. She was so funny getting this cracker, I just had to capture it
In case you are wondering where my “Daily Paintings” have gone, I’ve had to put that on hold. I was getting overwhelmed with trying to meet deadlines and working on the daily paintings. I should be caught up with my obligations in a week or two and will get back to the daily paintings asap. I really miss it!!
