ANGELS

HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY RYAN!!

Love the expression on Ryan’s face here.

Yes, my little angel turns 11……..it is amazing how fast children grow. I keep threatening to quit feeding them so they stop growing but unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. It is bittersweet watching our children grow up….on one hand it is fun to see them develop their own points of view, discover their talents and interests, become fun-loving, kind and smart young men, but on the other hand I can’t imagine the house quiet-without their laughter and conversation (and heated disagreements) & I can’t imagine the house organized-without their towels on the bathroom floor, messy bedrooms, cups everywhere, video games scattered on the coffee table & scotch tape in the drawer. Whenever we celebrate our boy’s birthdays it is a reminder that they are growing fast and won’t be living with us forever, so we need to take time to enjoy every moment….good or bad, because when they move out we will miss those everyday moments.

“Comfort & Joy”

I had a bit of fun over the Christmas break and painted some angels to hang proudly in our bedroom. This one is my favorite. It is large too, 36″ x 48″ . I had so much fun painting with acrylics on canvas. I haven’t done that is years and it is so different from watercolor painting. When I started painting way back in the day when I was 19, I learned in oils and acrylics so this brought back many great memories….and the smell of the paints…wow, it was refreshing! When the painting was finished, I used a crackle/antiquing finish so it looks really old….which I love! My husband and children are my inspiration for this painting. They are angels in my life and they are all very musical! I am planning to spend more time painting in acrylics and definitely painting more angels.

Another view of “Comfort & Joy”

I will eventually hang this painting over our bed. I plan to paint and re-arrange our bedroom so I’d rather not have another hole to patch, therefore, she rests on our headboard lulling us to sleep each night :-)

January Freeze!

“Let it Snow”

Happy New Year! I apologize for such a delay in blogging but I was having technical difficulties. That is also why my shopping cart hasn’t been working. Many of you have emailed me about the problem, but it is up and running now. Thanks for your patience. While cleaning my studio just after Christmas, I found a handful of calendars so they are up for sale again if you are still looking for one. Many thanks to all of my wonderful customers, I appreciate your business and support of my artwork.

Wow! It is FRREEEEEZING here in Michigan with highs in the single digits and below zero at night!! I guess it’s just as well, I have many deadlines to meet this month so not leaving the studio is a good thing.

Our son, Ryan, has a birthday next week……my “baby” will be eleven! Hard to believe…… he is growing so fast!

One year prior to Ryan’s birth, I signed with Linda McDonald, my licensing agent (it helps me to remember how long I have been in the licensing business since it falls on the same day as Ryan’s birthday). So this month is a time to celebrate two awesome life-changing events!

Tah-Tah for now…..
